Brett Lawrie needs to chill out…sometimes

Brett Lawrie is one of the most intense baseball player that I have ever seen play the game. He constantly looks like he is in a 12 round fight for a world boxing title. It’s great to see his excitment…but there is a limit!

I know for a fact that the Canadian fans love his grit and desire to win, but the Blue Jays’ third baseman needs to canalyze his energy in order to be at his best for the whole season, and more importantly, stay healthy for 162 games…and maybe more.

Last night in the 7th inning, Toronto was leading 7-1 against their division rival, the Boston Red Sox. A high flyball was hit in the second or third row of the stands, on the third base line, and Lawrie went jumping head first to try to make a spectacular catch. He hit his thigh on the ramp and collided heavily with the wall at high speed. The Canadian was fine, but he could have easily hurt his back or leg.

I am sure the blue jays’ pitchers love to see their defence try everything to get them the outs, but at one point, Lawrie needs to realize that he is a big part of this club, and in a 7-1 game, it is fine to let a fan get a souvenir instead of getting hurt, and perhaps missing a good portion of the season.

The Toronto Blue Jays are coming home!

After winning two out of three games in Cleveland, the Toronto Blue Jays will have their home opener, tonight, versus the winless Boston Red Sox.

Ricky Romero, who opened the Toronto Stock Exchange this morning is really excited to be back home. He Tweeted this about an hour ago.

@RickyRo24: Just pulled up to the dome and already got goosebumps for tonight. #JaysNation u ready? Let’s get Loud tonight.

Brett Lawrie, the young Canadian is also excited about the home opener. First, you can see on the picture above, a great view of the Rogers Centre from his appartment, and here is what he recently tweeted.

@blawrie13:Tonight is deff Guna be some fun !!!! Who’s ready ????

The Blue Jays will send Henderson Alvarez to the mound, he who will celebrate his 22nd birthday on the 18th of this month. Alvarez shows a big league record of 1-3 with a 3.53 ERA in 10 starts. Alvarez will face Felix Doubront who doesn’t have much more experience in the MLB with a 2-2 record, with a 4.84 ERA in 23 games, and only 3 starts.

Brett Lawrie and JP Arencibia dressed as dumb and dumber

To celebrate Easter, Brett Lawrie and JP Arencibia of the Toronto Blue Jays, decided to show up to the ballpark, in Cleveland dressed as Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunn (dumb and dumber), as you can see on the picture above.

The two young single players seem to have a good time, especially after 2 wins in a row in extra innings. In the first game of the season, Arencibia was the hero with a 3-run HR, and yesterday, Lawrie had an RBI and scored a run in the 12th inning to help his team defeat the Indians.

Toronto Blue Jays’ promising season opens today

Today, the Toronto Blue Jays will try to prove to the whole baseball world that their 24-7 spring training record was no fluke. They are opening their regular season in Cleveland, to face the Indians.

The Blue Jays’ ace Ricky Romero will be on the mound, and will try to repeat from a great season last year. His record wasn’t that great (15-11), but his offence gave him very little support last year. Romero finished the season with an impressive 2.92 ERA and an incredible 1.14 WHIP. Hopefully the Jays’ bats will come to his rescue this year.

The Great Lawrie

All eyes will be turned on young canadian phenom Brett Lawrie, who hit for over .500 in spring training. After a promising 43 games in his rookie season, Lawrie seems ready to elevate himself to the status of baseball superstar.

Let’s not forget about Jose Bautista who will try to win the MLB home run titles for a third straight year.

This year, the Jays got some depth in the bullpen, which was their achilles’ heel last season. However, the lack of experience in their starting rotation will probably be an issue in the long run. Romero and Morrow are great, but the 3 other starters are very young and inexperienced. Eveng Brett Cecil, who was the Jays’ leader in wins for 2011, got relegated to AA baseball because of a horrendous spring training.

Nonetheless, hopes are high in the Jays’ dugout and action starts today at 3 p.m.

Impressive 9-2 record for Toronto Blue jays in Grapefruit league; Brett Lawrie leads MLB in batting avg.

The hopes are high for the Toronto Blue Jays this season, especially with the extra wild card spot available in the American League. So far, the Jays are living up to expectations with an MLB best 9 wins, and only 2 losses.

Only the Detroit Togers and the L.A. Dodgers have a better winning % in spring training with a 6-1 record. Better news yet, the players are playing up to par.

Brett Lawrie is leading the Majors with an astonishing .579 average at bat (11/19) and he also has 8 RBI’s in 7 games played.

Jose Bautista is hitting for a very respectable .400 with 2 home runs in 6 games played. The pitchers are obviously doing their part of the job as well.

Brett Cecil still hasn’t allowed a run in 6 innings pitched. He also registered 2 wins in as many decisions. Ricky Romero and Brandon Morrow also have a perfect ERA in 5 innings pitched.

I know that spring training doesn’t mean much, but let’s be positive and hope the Jays can carry this momentum into the regular season.

Brett Lawrie is looking great for the Toronto Blue Jays!

Spring camp has just started, but news for Toronto Blue Jays fans could not be better. The Jays won their first 2 games and their canadian superstar, Brett Lawrie, looks great.

In 2 games, the third baseman is hitting for .500 (3 for 6), with 2 doubles and 5 RBIs. We all know Lawrie is marvelous defensively, so hopes are high for the Jays this season, with the extra wildcard spot available in the A.L. this year.

I believe Jose Bautista will be well supported offensively this season, for once, now let`s just hope the new acquisitions in the bullpen will deliver and help Toronto reach the postseason for the first time since their last world series championship in 1993.

The season will open on April the 5th, with a 3-game series in Cleveland to face the Indians. The Jays will then have their home opener on April 9th, for a 3-game series vs the Boston Red Sox.

Playball !

It’s almost spring time, and the boys of summer are back to work. Training camp has started for the Toronto Blue Jays, in Florida.

As always, hopes are high this time of the year for all MLB teams. But this time, the enthusiasm surrounding the Jays is legitimate, and for the first time in many many years, the Blue Jays could actually be part of a playoff race until september, in the toughest division in Baseball.

They signed Brandon Morrow and a few good relievers. We all know the bullpen was their achilles’ heel over the past few years. Jose bautista is a confirmed star in the MLB, having won 2 straight homeruns title, and he seems pretty anxious about the new season. He tweeted a couple days ago that he was excited to finally set his alarm for 6 a.m. for the beginning of training camp.

The emergence of young Canadian prospect Brett Lawrie is obvious, as we saw when he joined the big club last season. Hopefully for the Jays, other young players like JP Arencibia, Travis Snider, and Colby Rasmus can develop a consistency and help the Jays in their quest for a first playoff appearance since 1993.

Let’s hope these throwback uniforms will give them the luck necessary to finally be part of October baseball.

Brett Lawrie looking sexy in tight pants

Brett Lawrie’s girlfriend posted a sexy picture of Brett Lawrie and his sister- who is a very good softball pitcher by the way- on twitter while they were wearing very tight spandex pants.

The story doesn’t tell if they were wearing these tights to go skiing, but they sure do look good in that pic!!

Blue Jays Brett Lawrie breaks up with Sidney Leroux - New co-worker girlfriend (???)

Yeahhh! How about some gossip with mister I don’t know how Facebook’s privacy settings work, Brett Lawrie.

Rumors flying around the interwebs are mentioning that Toronto Blue Jays third-baseman Brett Lawrie broke-up with his soccer chick Sidney Leroux. They were engaged. WOW. Please pay attention to the (???) in my title post. Can’t say if this is true or false. What’s intresting about Brett Lawrie these days is that he’s in Kelowna B-C on some sort of autograph signing tour. The lady in charge is Marissa Edler aka @RissyJoy. Here’s what he thinks of her:

Everyone follow Marissa ! she works at my agency and trying to get her some followers ! :) she’s a beauty ! aha

The girl hasn’t tweeted yet. LOL. Please take a close look at the picture and tell me: is that work-related-love pose or fao-king-the-pay-roll pose?

Expected comment of the day: when a guy puts his arm around a girl it doesn’t mean that they are dating. They’re just friends!
